The projects in the Molise region funded as part of the“Bici in Comune”initiative—promoted by the Minister of Sports and Youth, with the support of the Department of Sports, through Sport e Salute and the National Association of Italian Municipalities—were presented in the Provincial Council Chamber of the Province of Isernia.

The National Call for Proposals provided for the funding for initiatives to promote cycling, with cycling viewed as a means to a healthy and active lifestyle, as well as projects to upgrade or expand bike paths, as well as initiatives to promote cycling tourism, enhance the local area, and engage schools.

Speaking before the mayors of the lead municipalities receiving the funding and the partner municipalities, Angelo Campofredano, Regional Coordinator for Sport and Health in Molise, emphasized that this is “A wonderful opportunity to share and give back to the community the results of a meticulous and ambitious project in which Molise played a leading role, with as many as five municipalities receiving funding. The project aims to promote cycling and bicycle tourism as a means of fostering a healthy and active lifestyle among citizens, with the goal of encouraging bicycle use to improve the well-being of the community.”.

The Acting Vice President of ANCI Molise, Nicola Montagano, who congratulated the mayors of the municipalities receiving the funding for submitting worthy proposals and for successfully creating a network with other local governments and amateur sports associations, which will allow us to promote our region more effectively.

Also present at the event were Daniele Saia, Mayor of Agnone; Federica Cocozza, Mayor of Filignano; Piero Castrataro, Mayor of Isernia; Claudino Casciano, Mayor of Pietrabbondante; and Simona De Caprio, Mayor of San Pietro Avellana, who presented the individual projects in collaboration with the mayors of the partner municipalities.
